Contribution of multiple scattering to the intensity of the detected depolarized signal. A dilution series was performed for spherical polystyrene particles of various sizes. The percentage fraction of the DDLS signal from the DLS signal is plotted against the particle concentration. Empty symbols represent measurements where the DLS signal intensity exceeds 5000 kHz. A strong increase in the percentage fraction of the DDLS signal can be observed for high particle concentrations owing to multiple scattering. For lower concentrations the contribution of the DDLS signal remains constant, resulting in an almost horizontal line with a small slope, indicating no multiple scattering.
