[\sigma _{\rm A}^{\rm{E}}(y)] and [\sigma _{\rm{A}}^{\rm{E}}(y) - \sigma _{\rm{T}}^{\rm{E}}(y)] represent experimentally determined dependencies of axial stresses and the difference between axial and tangential stresses, respectively. The data were fitted using sinusoidal functions [\sigma _{\rm{A}}^{\rm{M}}(y)] and [\sigma _{\rm{A}}^{\rm{M}}(y) - \sigma _{\rm{T}}^{\rm{M}}(y)] [cf. equations (8)[link] and (9)[link]] and the axial dependence of the tangential stresses [\sigma _{\rm{T}}^{\rm{C}}(y)] was determined analytically by subtracting the fitted functions.
