Pawley fits of XRPD data of monoclinic HEWL (pH 4.5, space group P21). (a) 95% rH at the beginning of the cycle, (b) 80% rH during the dehydration part of the cycle, (c) 75%, (d) 80% rH during the rehydration part of the cycle, (e) 95% rH at the end of the experiment. Data were collected using a laboratory X-ray powder diffractometer (Empyrean) equipped with a built-in MHC-trans humidity chamber (λ = 1.540598 Å, room temperature) (Malvern Panalytical Company). The upper black and red lines represent the experimental and calculated patterns, respectively, whereas the lower blue line represents the difference between the experimental and calculated profiles. The vertical bars (lower and upper panels) correspond to the Bragg reflections compatible with this space group (P21).
