With increasing mass flow and thus pressure before the ALS, the particle-beam focus becomes harder, i.e. it moves closer to the ALS exit and gets smaller. (b) Particle-beam evolution curves of the optimized injector for different AuNP sizes at 13 mg min−1 mass flow. With increasing particle size, the particle-beam focus decreases and moves further away from the ALS. The convergence increases with decreasing particle size.
