Analysis of computing performance. Time required to compute the shape function for a cube with (black full dots) a variable number of directions (or polar and azimuthal angle intervals, e.g. @40 for 40 ×40) and 10 000 points per solution, or (blue open dot) 409 033 directions (i.e. @400) and a variable number of points per solution. The best-fit linear trends are also shown (red dash–dotted line). The deviation of the fit for the shape function resolution curve is caused by a constant initialization time.
