Absolute SLD profiles of the bilayers in liposomes versus the superimposed SLD profile from two mirrored monolayers of the same kind at 35 mN m−1, 22°C. The monolayers are placed such that their headgroup centroids coincide with the centroids of the two bilayer headgroup compartments. The monolayer SLD profiles are also entered as dashed red lines. The resulting position of the CH3-terminal interface of the monolayer tail region is depicted by a dashed vertical line.
