Tree diagram of distorted cuboctahedra. Higher positions in the diagram indicate higher symmetry. Note that there are two differently distorted cuboctahedra with the point group 42m. Model 42m (1) is a combination of a bidisphenoid and a square, whereas 42m (2) can be described as a combination of an anticuboid and a disphenoid. Each is viewed along its 4 axis. Similarly, model mmm (1) is a combination of a cuboid and a rhombus, whereas mmm (2) is a combination of a diagonal orthobicupola and a rectangle.
