Critical film thickness for the onset of the evolution of the (2 2 2+ɛ)NFO (red data points) and (224)NFO (blue data points) intensities for different Ni contents. Above an Ni content of x = 1 no formation of (224)NFO could be observed, indicating that no ordered spinel structure has formed. The large uncertainty for x = 0.2 (transparent) is due to the high deposition rate and the resulting poor thickness resolution, so these data should be considered with caution (Table 1[link]).
