The Laue condition is fulfilled if the superposition of ki and kf yields the reciprocal-lattice vector Ghkl (intersection of the Ewald sphere and orientation sphere in three dimensions). The involved momentum transfer with respect to the substrate (within the SRF) is q; the x and z components are shown in dark red. αi is the incidence angle and rotates the SRF around the y axis of the LRF.
