Averaged diffusion coefficient D of the dissolved proteins obtained from the ratio analysis, equation (6)[link] (blue circles, left axis), and the fraction of immobile proteins cNBS [equation (8)[link], red triangles, right axis] as a function of time determined from FWSs at [\hbar\omega] = 0, 1 and 3 µeV, for the HSA solution sample with cs = 4.875 mM LaCl3 and cp = 75 mg ml−1. While the increasing fraction of immobile proteins cNBS illustrates the protein crystallization process, which has been fitted by equation (2)[link], the diffusion coefficients D show only a small decrease with time.
