Journal of Applied Crystallography publishes original research on advanced experimental and computational methodologies for investigating structural and dynamic properties of crystalline and amorphous materials, including solids, liquids, gases, single molecules, surfaces and interfaces. It welcomes studies employing photons, electrons, neutrons and other probes in materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering and life sciences. A section of the journal covers aspects of crystallographic education. Submissions on time-resolved techniques, laser-based applications, new instrumentation and emerging technologies are encouraged.

Further elements of the journal's profile include theory, data interpretation, numerical analysis and related fields. The journal is the established place where computer programs and applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in structural research are published.

Articles are free to publish with no submission fees or page charges. Open access is optional, and it may be covered by a transformative deal with your institution.
