Graphical evaluation of the lamellar density distribution: the left-hand panel shows a half-period of the sinusoidal lamellar spatial structure. The horizontal lines coming off it are evenly spaced in the horizontal direction. Their vertical density determines the distribution in the right-hand panel. Note how the stationary regions of the structure, where the gradient vanishes at 0 and π, lead to the inverse square root Van Hove singularities in the density distribution at [|\phi|] = 2.
