Magnified areas of the diffraction images indicated by a red square in images (a) and (b) are shown in (c) and (e). Images (d) and (f) show even higher magnifications of the areas indicated in (c) and (e) and highlight the achievable low background-scattering levels around the Bragg reflections at 3.1 Å in the case of lysozyme (d) and 3.6 Å in the case of proteinase K crystals (f).
