Effects of the symmetrical aberrations on the CTF of the 20S proteasome as part of the aberration experiment at 200 keV. The image on the left shows a CTF expressed by the traditional model, while that on the right shows the fit of our new model which considers higher-order symmetrical aberrations. Note that the slightly square-like shape that arises from fourfold astigmatism cannot be expressed by the traditional model. The aberrations correspond to the bottom right image in Fig. 2[link].
