Examples of the HEWL-Re-Imi crystals grown with co-crystallization of HEWL with fac-[Et4N]2[Re(CO)3(Br)3] and excess imidazole as viewed through a polarizing microscope at 45× magnification in sitting-drop 96-well plates. Both crystal images are from the same crystallization plate, the different external crystal morphologies are typically affected by small changes in the crystallization media and are unlikely to be related to the presence of rhenium (Liu et al., 2010BB47; Pusey & Nadarajah, 2002BB60; Judge et al., 1999BB39).
