Structure of the GCN4 leucine-zipper core mutant N16A (PDB entry 3k7z, chain B) with a large excess of water molecules that are not located in significant positive peaks in the electron-density maps and are overlapping the protein coordinates. The 2Fo − Fc map (blue mesh) is shown at the 1.5σ level, whereas the Fo − Fc map is shown at 3.0σ (green). Water molecules are shown as red spheres; the blue sphere is the NZ atom of the incorrectly modeled Lys3 (suggesting incorrect geometric restraints).
