An X-ray diffraction determination of the surface concentration of tin diffused into steel

A technique is described which has been used for the determination of the surface concentrations of inhomogeneous samples of tin diffused into steel which uses the changing lattice parameter of α-iron as shown by composite X-ray diffraction peaks from diffractometer traces.
