The lattice defects of a Brazilian topaz have been studied by X-ray topography. Two types of linear defect are observed: growth and cleavage dislocations. The most frequent Burgers vectors are determined. Some calculations of directions of minimum dislocation energy are given and they are in good agreement with observations.
