Alternating layers of two different metals such as Mn and Ge evaporated on an optical flat form a one-dimensional `crystal' which can serve as a wide wavelength band-pass neutron monochromator with a small angular divergence. Measurements of the reflectivity, which exceeds 30% at 4 Å, of such metal film multilayers are presented.
