On the optimum scanning ratio and integrated intensity measurements in elastic diffraction of neutrons by single-crystal samples

A simple method is described for the experimental determination of the type of scan and of the horizontal and vertical divergences of the neutron radiation elastically diffracted by a single-crystal sample. The experimental set-up which gave the maximum intensity was used, with coarse in-pile collimation, a graphite monochromator at λ≃1 Å and no monochromator-sample and sample-detector collimators.
