An analytical method for calculating the misorientation between two crystals is described. The orientation of each crystal is obtained from simple measurements on two pairs of Kikuchi lines on a selected-area diffraction pattern. A computer program calculates the components of the basis axes of each crystal and the misorientation angle between the two lattices, together with the Miller indices and coordinates of the rotation axis for cubic and hexagonal structures.
