Studies on selenates. III. Crystal chemical data for zirconium and cerium selenate tetrahydrates

The compounds, M(SeO₄)₂.4H₂O, where M = Zr⁴⁺ and Ce⁴⁺, are orthorhombic with space group Fddd. a = 26.44 ± 0.03, b = 11.92 ± 0.01, c = 5.632 ± 0.006 Å for the zirconium compound and a = 27.31 ± 0.02, b = 12.38 ± 0.01, c = 5.736 ± 0.006 Å for the cerium compound. X-ray powder diffraction data are reported.
