The anserine (N-β-alanyl-methyl-L-histidine) nitrate crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P21 with a = 16.597 (3), b = 30.305 (5), c = 5.505 (5) Å and β = 90.04 (5)°. There are four independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. Crystallization of other anserine salts is in progress.
