1,3-Dicyclopropyl-2-(1,2,3-triphenylcyclopropen-3-yl)propane-1,3-dione: a Substituted Cyclopropene with a β-Dicarbonyl Fragment

The title compound, C₃₀H₂₆O₂, has a conformation in which one of the cyclopropanecarbonyl moieties bisects the plane of the cyclopropene ring. The bulky 1,2,3-triphenylcyclopropenyl substituent in the α-position of the β-diketone excludes the possibility of any enolization process. The asymmetry of the single-bond lengths in substituted cyclopropenes, reported previously [Allen (1982). Tetrahedron, 38, 645–655], is not observed in the present compound.
