In the centrosymmetric tetrameric [(UO₂)₄(O)₂(C₂H₃O₂)₄(C₄H₁₀NO)₂]²⁻ anion {systematic name: bis(μ-acetato)-1κO: 2κO′: 3κO: 4κO′-bis(acetato)2κ²O, O′; 4κ²O, O′-bis(μ-2-dimethylaminoethanolato)-1κ²N, O: 4κO; 2κO: 3κ²N, O-di-μ₃-oxo-1:2:3κ³O; 1:3:4κ³O-tetrakis[dioxouranate(IV)]}, the U atoms are seven-coordinate, the shortest U...U distances being 3.681 (2), 3.775 (2) and 4.214 (2) Å and the longest 7.017 (2) Å. Four UO₂²⁺ ions are connected by two carboxylate groups, two ethanolato O atoms and two triply bridging O atoms. A (2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium cation, C₄H₁₂NO⁺, links adjacent complex anions by N—H...O(uranyl) and O—H...O(acetate) hydrogen bonds.
