Tetrachlorobis(N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine-N,N')thorium(IV)

The title compound, [ThCl₄(C₆H₁₆N₂)₂], displays an approximate dodecahedral geometry in the solid state, with the Th atom binding to four Cl ligands and to the four N atoms of two tetramethylethylenediamine ligands. The Th-Cl and Th-N distances are in the ranges 2.683 (3)-2.692 (3) Å and 2.800 (7)-2.825 (9) Å, respectively.
