PbFeIII2(P2O7)2 [Diiron(III) Lead(II) bis(diphosphate)] crystallizes to form two types of metallic column, one containing uniquely FeIII [Fe
Fe 7.851 (3) Å] and the other with alternating Pb and Fe atoms [PbFe 3.925 (3) Å]. The crystalline structure of BaFeIII2(P2O7)2 is characterized by chains of iron octahedra sharing faces with Ba-O decahedra and linked by corner-sharing Fe-O octahedra.
