In the title compound, (-)-cis-3-acetyl-2,2-dimethylcyclobutanecarboxylic acid, C9H14O3, carboxyl-to-ketone chains (catemers) are formed between screw-related molecules spiraling along the b cell axis with an O-H
O distance of 2.747 (3) Å. The carboxyl C=O group is not involved in the hydrogen bonding, although, its O atom has a close contact of 2.51 (5) Å to a methyl H atom of a neighboring molecule.
