O-bidentate 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate (C

4O
4; BDC) dianions. The three crystallographically independent [Zn(C
8H
4O
4)(C
18H
10N
4)]
n polymeric strands propagate in the [001] direction. Two uncoordinated DPPZ molecules complete the asymmetric unit. The structure is stabilized by C—H

O, C—H

N and π–π interactions.
