A Hough-like approach to the measurement and detection of symmetry in two- and three-dimensional structures

In this work an algorithm for the detection and measurement of symmetry in material aggregates is presented. The algorithm is based on the Hough transform in the sense that points (and pairs and triplets of points) `vote' for all the symmetry elements that are compatible with them.
