Laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectra of the (B 2Σu+, v′ = 0) ← (X 2Σg+, vi′′ = 0) transition of N2+ which is prepared (a) by photoionization of N2 at ESR = 18.0 eV and (b) by that of N2O at ESR = 18.6 eV. The monitored fluorescence at 427 ± 4 nm is ascribed to the (B 2Σu+, v′ = 0) → (X 2Σg+, vf′′ = 1) transition. The solid line in (a) represents a spectrum at T = 300 K calculated by using the theoretical intensity distribution of rotation bands [equations (3)[link]–(5)[link]] convoluted with the laser spectral width of 9.2 cm−1. The dashed line in (b) is to guide the reader's eye.
