Sketch of the experimental set-up. The typical separation between samples was 5 mm. The downstream sample was the stationary reference sample, and the upstream sample was mounted on a piezo-controlled drive. The pinhole diameters were 20 µm for the collimating and 50 µm for the scatter-guard.
