A plot of the absorption spectra obtained from Ni foil when Kapton film was used to attenuate the beam so that the It and I0 integration periods were the same. Data were taken for (i) 1 scan, (ii) 10 scans, (iii) 100 scans, (iv) 1000 scans, (v) 10000 scans and (vi) 10000 scans with odd and even channels averaged so that these results may be compared with Fig. 5[link]. The data sets are offset vertically by 0.1 units for clarity. Acquisition times per scan are It = I0 = 600 µs.
