Absorption spectra of an oriented PTFE film near the carbon K-edge at different polarization and sample angles. [A polarization angle of 0° corresponds to the E vector in the plane of the storage ring; a sample angle of 0° corresponds to the PTFE chains (rubbing direction) being aligned with the plane of the storage ring.] The spectra have been normalized to the same C 1s intensity at 304 eV. Offsets of (b) 0.5, (c) 1.0 and (d) 1.5 have been used for clarity.
