Temperature dependence of the HeI UPS valence band spectra for (a) (La_0.8Nd_0.2)_0.46Sr_0.54MnO₃ and (b) Nd_0.46Sr_0.54MnO₃. The backgrounds were subtracted by using the Shirley method, and the spectra were normalized by the maximum intensity. A large change in the shape of the spectrum at about 4–6 eV, which is indicated as the energy-range between the dotted lines, occurred across T_C = 260 K only for (La_0.8Nd_0.2)_0.46Sr_0.54MnO₃.
