Glycerol in a cryoloop imaged with the IR camera during cooling. The time starts when the coldstream is unblocked. The loop is 0.75 mm in the horizontal plane and is positioned perpendicular to the camera but parallel to the nitrogen stream. Every fourth image is shown in this series. The image is false colored with blue being cold and red hot. The nitrogen stream is incident on the loop in the top left of the picture at an approximate 30° down angle. Overlaid on this image and subsequent images is a grid showing the pixel numbers for sizing purpose. Each pixel at this magnification is 7.5 × 7.5 µm.
