View of the monochromator from the vacuum side. The beam enters from the left as in Fig. 4[link]. The monochromator is set for 0° Bragg angle, as in Fig. 4(a)[link]. The translation motor is visible at the top, and the pitch motor at the left. The gray blocks are the crystals, and the square aluminium assembly surrounding them is the flexure device which moves the second crystal without tilting it. The monochromator is shown mounted on a temporary scaffold rather than on the beamline, which is why the O-ring groove is visible at the top.
