Temperature contours (isotherms) inside the sphere for the reference case plotted at mid-depth: (a) side view (YZ plane) and (b) front view (XY plane). [T_{\rm{max}}-{\bar{T}}_{\rm{wall}}] = 0.56 K. The higher temperature in the rear of the sphere is due to lower local hθ in the wake region. However, note that the temperature field inside the sphere plotted on the XY plane is axisymmetric (circumferentially symmetric in the direction normal to the flow stream although asymmetrical in the longitudinal flow direction).
