The orientation of the cubes versus the cube-size contribution to the resolution function. The cube-size contribution has a width of x = [(c/R)\cot\theta_{\rm{B}}] if the cubes are oriented so that their edges are along the diffraction plane, but the width is reduced to [x/\sqrt{2}] if the edges are oriented at an angle of 45° with respect to the diffraction plane.
