Two 241Am spectra taken with an Amptek 3 mm × 3 mm × 2 mm CdZnTe detector, illustrating the effectiveness of RTD (Owens, Buslaps, Erd et al., 2005BB18). From the figure we see that the hole tailing is substantially reduced in the case where RTD is used and in fact the FWHM energy resolution improves from 1 keV to 700 eV at 59.54 keV. However, an energy-dependent decrease in efficiency is also apparent.
