SNR versus sample-to-detector distance, calculated with parameters appropriate to 8-ID. Specifically, the detector pixel size is 14 µm, the source size is 220 µm × 15 µm, the slit size is 1000 µm and the photon energy is 6.7 keV. For reference, with these parameters θx = ωx occurs at a distance of 1.7 m, θz = ωz at 25 m. The wiggles on the binned curves are the result of taking the maximum of several peaks corresponding to all possible binnings.
