Ewald construction for energy-dispersive diffraction from a perfect crystal. The origin of the reciprocal lattice is indicated by O, and K is the scattering vector. The equatorial opening of the receiving slit is Δ2θ, where 2θ is the scattering angle. When K passes through a reciprocal lattice point a range of energies is reflected, corresponding to the convolution of Δ2θ and the Darwin width of the reflection.
