Extraction of the valence contribution to the Compton profile for Si (top) and SiO2 (bottom) at q = 5.21 a.u. The asymmetry-corrected Hartree–Fock (HF) core contributions for Si and O are shown separately. For Si the correction to the nonrelativistic Compton cross section (CA) is taken into account. The experimental spectra and the core profiles are normalized to the according number of electrons. This figure is in color in the electronic version of this paper.
