Schematic of the double-phase-plate diffractometer. The two phase plates can be mounted on the rotating stages θ1 and θ2. The χ1 and χ2 circles provide rotation about the X-ray beam. α and μ enable the χ1 and χ2 rotation axes to be parallel to the beam. Finally, x and z (which coincides with the α rotation axis for μ = 0) allows the diffractometer to shift rigidly along the respective directions.
