X-ray microscopy images of a colloidal particle from a forest soil, taken at E = 280 eV, left, and E = 300 eV, right. The difference in absorption owing to crossing the absorption edge is clearly visible. The image size is 10 µm × 15 µm, 200 × 300 pixels, taken with a dwell time per pixel of 6 ms.
