S L2,3 emission spectra of MoS2 (sample A) from the plain and ZnO covered areas. The recorded emission intensity decreases for increasing ZnO layer thicknesses. The spectral shape, however, remains unchanged, which illustrates that spectroscopy of buried layers is in fact possible.
