Figure 3
X28C experimental set-up. X-rays exit the beampipe (A) through the terminal 0.076 mm aluminium window, enter an N2-filled enclosure through an aperture (B) sealed to the beampipe to maintain the N2 atmosphere and may pass through attenuators (C) and a 1.6 mm-diameter aperture (D) before striking the diamond (E). The diamond is mounted on a stand (F) which can translate in a two-dimensional plane perpendicular to the beam. The beam path through nitrogen from the end of the vacuum beampipe to the diamond is ∼145 mm. The beam then passes through a 95 mm-long ion chamber (G) (∼40 mm from the diamond) and strikes a copper calorimeter (H) (∼150 mm from the diamond). |
