(a) The scattered plot of coordinate z in the exit slit versus wavelength (in Å) showing the effect of the grating in dispersing different wavelengths along z. The entrance slit width is set to 700 µm with groove density = 1500 lines mm−1. The horizontal line in z = 0 defines the best resolution (closed slit), = 0.101 Å, and gives a resolving power of 698.4. (b) The same plot as in (a) but with the fitted straight line removed. (c) The histogram shows the instrumental line profile. From the fitting of these points we obtain the pendent p = 0.38. The latter is used to calculate the distance to the origin of the exit slit where a line will be placed. |
