Beam-induced ice crystallization at a high-flux rate (50 e Å−2 s−1). Images (a)–(d) were all taken in the same series and correspond to doses of 57, 565, 1695 and 2825 MGy, respectively. The beam-induced movement calculated for the fiducial gold markers in these images is surprisingly small (see Table 1[link], grid 1, high-flux series). The scale bar shown in (a) corresponds to 60 nm.
