Contour plot of the critical propagation distance zc = (2Δ)2/λ, for pixel sizes Δ ranging between 0.1 and 50 µm and photon energies from 5 to 120 keV. The actual distance z between sample and detector in a detector should be chosen well below zc to fulfil the near-field condition (2)[link] even for the smallest features that the detector can resolve.
